Frequently Asked Questions

Do I own my wallet?

Yes! Your wallet and the donations your receive will always be accessible via your Alby account – even if you decide to move your show to another host.

What is a sat?

Satoshis, or sats for short are the smallest unit unit of Bitcoin (BTC). One Satoshi is equal to 0.00000001 BTC (one hundred millionth of a Bitcoin), or in other words, there are 100 million sats in one Bitcoin.

Can I split payments with my co-hosts?

Yes! With Value 4 Value enabled, the creator / host can choose if the payment goes 100% to them or split it with others including causes, charities, institutions, companies, and individuals of their choice.

What options do my listeners have for sending me Bitcoin?

There are multiple apps that support Value 4 Value (see above list), that allow your fans to send a defined amount of bitcoin (sats) for every minute they listen, or even send larger “boosts” during a show if they feel like they received more value during a particular segment.

These boosts can be time stamped by the app so that a podcaster knows what they said/did that was appreciated by the listener.

How to Use the Fountain Podcasts App to Send and Receive Bitcoin Sats

Fountain makes the process of sending and receiving sats easy.

The first step is to download the Fountain app which is available on both Google Play and the App Store.

Now that you’ve downloaded the app, go to the “Podcasts” tab and search for the podcast you’d like to support.

You can search using the name of the show, an episode or using the podcast’s RSS feed.

To support a show, you can simply hit the sats button. To boost an episode, select the episode and then the “BOOST” button at the bottom of your screen.

Add the amount of sats you’d like to give and also share a message. This type of interaction is called a boostagram or boost.
